Railway Network Approvals
Suddenstrike Ltd is a Link-up approved registered supplier to the rail industry. We have been providing services to the rail industry all over the United Kingdom for 10 years, sharing our wealth of experience and enabling effective solutions to many wildlife problems. We are also members of ConstructiOnline.
In 2009 were part of the refurbishments that took place along the Manchester Metro-Link route at various stations, providing services for deep cleaning, graffiti removal and bird proofing. We have also been part of major projects along various stretches of the rail network installing rabbit protection mesh along the embankments.
Rabbit Control
Rabbits can be a nuisance and can also cause major problems on railway embankments, preventing earthworks from being carried out as well as seriously undermining embankments making them unstable and enhancing the risk of a landslide occurring, endangering public safety.
As a company, Suddenstrike Ltd specialises in Rabbit control and management; our technicians have over 100 years of experience between them.
When control is required, great care is taken to find an effective solution which complies with both current legislation and the customers needs.
-
Aluminium Phosphide - All Aluminium Phosphide treatments are conducted by fully trained, qualified, insured and experienced technicians. All treatments are carried out to the manufacturers recommendations, specifications, and in accordance with UK law.
After an Aluminium Phosphide treatment has been completed, Suddenstrike Ltd can conduct a gas analysis inspection using the latest gas analysis technology, enabling us to provide you with a computerised statement confirming that the ground is clear of any gas.
Rabbit Protection Mesh/Embankment Netting
Once eradication has taken place and any earthworks have been completed, rabbit protection mesh is installed on top of the embankment using either high tensile wire or metal pegs to secure it in place. Once installed, it prevents a re-infestation of the embankment occurring and to stabilise the embankment minimising the risk of landslides.
Bird Proofing and Control
Birds often roost under bridges, around stations and other associated buildings and structures. This poses potential health and safety risks for both the general public and your workforce, as Pigeons and their droppings alone can carry more diseases transmittable to humans than Rats!
Associated bird problems include -
Transmitting human diseases - as Salmonella, Listeria spp. and Campylobacteria spp., which are all causes of food poisoning. As well as the above pigeons also transmit Ornithosis which when caught is commonly misdiagnosed as flu.
Insect Infestations - Bird nests support a large variety of insect life including blood-feeding insects, fabric-damaging insects, stored food pests and carrion feeding insects. When birds are roosting near human activity, insects can spread from the nest and carry a risk of disease and illness to any surrounding humans.
Endanger Human Safety – Fouling is a serious problem as it can make pavements and stairways slippery, this can then lead to injury to staff and pedestrians.
The presence of any species of bird that are protected can also result in delays in work being carried out or permission for works being granted.
Suddenstrike Ltd are specialists in bird proofing and can offer a tailor made service to suit your needs. We are experienced, fully qualified and insured to undertake various methods of bird proofing and control such as -
-
Removing all debris, then cleansing and sanitising the area.
-
Proofing all buildings and structures using bird spikes and bird netting.
-
Installing visual and audio scaring devices.
-
Permanent and humane eradication of pest species where necessary.
Deep Cleaning
As part of your refurbishments or general maintenance, we offer a service to cleanse a variety of buildings and structures, platforms, bridges, car parks and footpaths, using special nozzles to remove even the toughest grime and dirt. For areas with difficult access, such as the top of bridges, we have extendable lances, making every area within reach.
Graffiti Removal
Graffiti is an ever increasing problem. It is not only very unsightly, but in many cases, it can also be offensive. Suddenstrike Ltd can remove graffiti from almost any surface using the latest equipment, allowing us to return the treated area back to its original state.
Sharp's and Needle Sweeps
Litter and sharps (such as needles and syringes) are unsightly and are generally associated with crime and anti-social behaviour. This can lead to areas being perceived as neglected and also pose serious threats to the health and safety of the general public. We offer a service to collect and remove sharps and to dispose of them accordingly. All of our operators are fully trained in the safe removal of sharps.
Wildlife Survey's for Protected Species and Consultancy Services
The presence of protected species such as Badgers and Bats can cause major problems on projects where major earthworks or construction works are planned.
Suddenstrike Ltd has qualified and experienced technicians able to conduct extensive wildlife surveys and offer a consultancy service for advice regarding protected species.
Rodent Control
Rats and Mice are a major problem throughout the UK. Their presence can instantly destroy a companies reputation. Rodents, in particular Rats, have the power to transmit numerous diseases and infections such as Salmonellosis, caused by bacteria of the salmonella group and is one of the most widespread of animal borne diseases, others include Leptospirosis (Weil's Disease) which is thought to be carried by around 50-70% of rats and may result in the loss of human life. Parasites carried and transmitted by rodents also include mites, fleas, tapeworms and ringworm.
If left uncontrolled, rodents can damage property and buildings which can be expensive and also poses a threat to public health. Rodents have to gnaw constantly in order to keep their ever-growing incisor teeth at a manageable size, they frequently gnaw through electrical cables and water pipes potentially causing fire risks and floods. At Suddenstrike Ltd, we believe that prevention is better than cure. We will conduct a comprehensive site survey in order to compile an Integrated Pest Management System tailored to meet your needs and maintained by a Pest Control Service Agreement, providing you with the highest level of protection and detailed records to make sure that you comply with UK law and legislation.
All of our technicians are fully trained, qualified to BPCA Level 2, insured and experienced, giving you piece of mind knowing that the job is being done by professionals. As a company we are members of the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) and the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA).
Insect Control
Wasps, Bees and Ants: Wasps and Bees pose a significant threat to
public health and safety especially when they are in large numbers at
schools and public places; they can both inflict a painful sting that often
results in an Anaphylactic shock which can be life threatening. Bees are not
protected by law, however, they are a beneficial insect and their numbers
are on the decline. At Suddenstrike we will always try to remove Bees and
relocate them where possible. Using an insecticide is only ever a last
resort. Although Ants will bite in order to protect their nest, the main
problems caused are from the contamination of food stuffs, they can also be
a nuisance especially in large numbers when foraging or during the mating
swarms.
