At Suddenstrike Ltd we offer a variety of services specifically tailored for Airports including Bird Control, Rodent Control, Rabbit Management and Vegetation Control. All of our technicians are fully trained, qualified and insured to work airside and are all CRB checked.

Bird Control

Birds can cause major problems at airports and can jeopardise the health and safety of the general public and airport staff.

Bird strikes are a serious problem at airports. When birds get sucked into the engines of aircrafts, it can cause millions of pounds worth of damage to the aeroplane, and could also result in the loss of human life. In April 2007 an incident similar to this happened, A Boeing 757 flying from Manchester to Lanzarote suffered a double bird strike, This resulted in flames coming from the engine and the pilot being forced to make and emergency landing.

To achieve long-lasting control of pest bird infestations, access to the birds nesting and roosting sites and food must be denied. As with most sites it is difficult to always deny birds access to food so the best solution is to deny the birds access to their nesting and roosting sites. Some of the methods employed by Suddenstrike Ltd to achieve this are -

Installing Net Systems - When installed correctly the net system denies the birds access to their nesting and roosting sites on buildings as well as access to ledges and other perches. Net systems along with spike systems are the favoured methods used to protect all buildings from all pest bird species.
Installing Spike Systems - These spike systems are both effective and humane and they deny the birds access to ledges and roosting sites. The system consists of a strand of stainless steel prongs which are adhered to the ledge with a strong all-weather adhesive.
Bird Deterrents - In some situations it is not possible to proof against pest birds, so a special scaring technique is required which involves using recordings of the birds own distress calls.
Live-catch Trap - In some situations it may be more practical to capture and remove the pest species from the site.
Permanent Removal - Suddenstrike Ltd is one of the few companies in the industry which is licensed, capable, trained and insured to legally, lawfully and humanely remove pest species permanently.

Rodent Control

Rats and Mice are a major problem throughout the UK. Their presence can instantly destroy a companies reputation. Rodents, in particular Rats, have the power to transmit numerous diseases and infections such as Salmonellosis, caused by bacteria of the salmonella group and is one of the most widespread of animal borne diseases, others include Leptospirosis (Weil's Disease) which is thought to be carried by around 50-70% of rats and may result in the loss of human life. Parasites carried and transmitted by rodents also include mites, fleas, tapeworms and ringworm.

If left uncontrolled, rodents can damage property and buildings which can be expensive and also poses a threat to public health. Rodents have to gnaw constantly in order to keep their ever-growing incisor teeth at a manageable size, they frequently gnaw through electrical cables and water pipes potentially causing fire risks and floods. At Suddenstrike Ltd, we believe that prevention is better than cure. We will conduct a comprehensive site survey in order to compile an Integrated Pest Management System tailored to meet your needs and maintained by a Pest Control Service Agreement, providing you with the highest level of protection and detailed records to make sure that you comply with UK law and legislation.

All of our technicians are fully trained, qualified to BPCA Level 2, insured and experienced, giving you piece of mind knowing that the job is being done by professionals. As a company we are members of the British Pest Control Association (BPCA) and the National Pest Technicians Association (NPTA).

Mole Control

Every year Suddenstrike Ltd carries out thousands of acres of Mole control using the traditional trapping method in and around Cheshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire, Merseyside and North Wales. We have a team of technicians strictly dedicated to Mole control for a minimum of six months of the year between December and May covering all types of land from agricultural land to gardens and parks.

Rabbit Management

In the UK, Rabbits are classed as a major agricultural and horticultural pest. However, the dangers posed by their presence around runways can be just as severe, creating risks to the health and safety of the general public by undermining the runway and by being on the runway during take off and landing where a collision may cause loss of control.

As a company, Suddenstrike Ltd specialises in Rabbit control and management; our technicians have over 100 years of experience between them. When control is required, great care is taken to find an effective solution which complies with both current legislation and the customers needs. We use various methods of control, all of which are legal and humane, ranging from traditional methods such as ferreting, trapping, long netting and shooting to more modern methods such as Aluminium Phosphide and exclusion fencing.

Aluminium Phosphide - All Aluminium Phosphide treatments are conducted by fully trained, qualified, insured and experienced technicians. All treatments are carried out to the manufacturers recommendations, specifications, and in accordance with UK law.

After an Aluminium Phosphide treatment has been completed, Suddenstrike Ltd can conduct a gas analysis inspection using the latest gas analysis technology, enabling us to provide you with a computerised statement confirming that the ground is clear of any gas.

Exclusion Fencing - Suddenstrike Ltd install many miles of Rabbit exclusion netting per year. We only use the highest quality Rabbit netting that is guaranteed Rabbit proof. Rabbit netting is installed using our own experienced and dedicated team of installers with our own JCB and post knocker, this enables us to install large volumes of high specification Rabbit exclusion fencing efficiently and economically.

Vegetation Control

First impressions count, especially when you are visiting a new country for the first time. Weeds such as Ragwort, Nettles, Thistles, Bracken and Buttercups can look unsightly and if left uncontrolled they can soon cover large areas. Weeds can also trap wind blown litter producing an unsightly view and their dense cover may also provide an ideal habitat for Rodents encouraging infestations.

Suddenstrike Ltd is one of the largest suppliers of vegetation control in the North West, we offer a service to remove weeds from a wide variety of areas such as car parks, footpaths and grassed areas. This can be done either by manually removing the weed including its root system, or by using a herbicide spray, applied by either using a knapsack or a sprayer mounted onto a quad bike.

All of our technicians are fully trained, NPTC qualified, experienced and insured. We also carryout slug pellet and grass seed application.

Graffiti Removal and Cleaning

Graffiti is an ever increasing problem. It is not only very unsightly, but in many cases, it can also be offensive. Suddenstrike Ltd can remove graffiti from almost any surface using the latest equipment, allowing us to return the treated area back to its original state.

As part of your refurbishments or general maintenance, we offer a service to cleanse a variety of buildings and structures, platforms, bridges, car parks and footpaths, using special nozzles to remove even the toughest grime and dirt. For areas with difficult access, such as the top of bridges, we have extendable lances, making every area within reach.
